Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how the Overhead mobile app (“Overhead,” “we,” “us”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the app. We collect only what the app needs to notify you about flights overhead, and we never sell your personal information.
Information we collect
Information you provide
- Account information. Your email address and a securely hashed password when you create an account.
- Watch settings. The location you choose to watch (or the airport you select in Airport mode), along with your radius, altitude, direction, and airline preferences.
Information collected automatically
- Location. The geographic coordinates you save as your watch location, or your device’s GPS coordinates if you choose to use your current location. We use this solely to determine which aircraft are near you.
- Push notification token. A device identifier issued by Apple/Expo so we can deliver notifications.
- Time zone. Your device time zone, used to send daily forecast notifications at the hour you choose.
- Subscription status. Whether you have an active Overhead Pro subscription.
- Activity needed to operate. A timestamp of your last app activity (to determine whether to watch the sky for you) and a history of the flights we’ve notified you about.
How we use your information
- To watch for aircraft near your chosen location and send you push notifications.
- To send the optional daily sky-visibility forecast at your selected time.
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure.
- To provide and manage your Overhead Pro subscription.
- To operate, maintain, and improve the app.
How we share your information
We share information only with the service providers needed to run the app. We do not sell your data or use it for advertising.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the rights, safety, and security of our users and the app.
Location data
Overhead needs your location to function — it is the heart of the app. You control the location the app watches, and you can change or remove it at any time in the app’s Location tab. If you grant background location permission, your device may share location while the app is closed so we can keep watching the sky for you; you can revoke this at any time in your device’s Settings.
Data retention
We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. Notification history and short-lived operational records are retained only as long as needed to operate the app. When you delete your account, we delete your personal information, except where we are required to retain it (for example, transaction records).
Your choices and rights
- Update your email, location, and preferences anytime in the app.
- Turn off notifications in the app or in your device Settings.
- Revoke location permission in your device Settings.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data by contacting us (see below).
Children’s privacy
Overhead is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will revise the effective date above when we do, and significant changes will be reflected in the app.
